MEA closely monitors West Asia, notes Pakistan’s ceasefire role

India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is closely watching the evolving situation in West Asia. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Friday that India “closely monitors” developments across the region. He made this statement during the weekly media briefing. The comment comes as global attention grows around a possible US–Iran ceasefire and related geopolitical shifts. At the same time, several countries have started assessing their positions as the situation develops further.

A journalist raised a question about Pakistan’s role in facilitating the ceasefire. The question referred to remarks by former US President Donald Trump. He recently praised Pakistan and its army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, for their involvement. The journalist also asked whether Trump plans to visit Pakistan.
