Lok Sabha proceedings faced heavy disruption on Monday during the Budget Session. Opposition members staged a loud protest inside the House. They demanded a detailed discussion on several national and international issues. Continuous uproar prevented the Lok Sabha from functioning normally. Several MPs gathered in the Well of the House and raised slogans. Some lawmakers also displayed placards to highlight their demands. Because of the chaos, the Chair had to intervene many times.
Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar addressed Parliament. The minister explained the government’s efforts to rescue Indian nationals stranded in Gulf countries after the war in West Asia. Authorities acted quickly to ensure the safety of Indians abroad. He also briefed members about steps taken to protect India’s energy supplies. According to the minister, the government follows three guiding principles while handling the crisis. These include protecting Indian citizens, securing energy supplies, and safeguarding national interests. Despite the statement, protesting MPs continued their slogans. As a result, normal proceedings in the Lok Sabha remained disrupted.

Lok Sabha Adjourned After Opposition Uproar
Tensions increased further in the Lok Sabha as protests intensified. Opposition members continued raising slogans and demanded an immediate debate. They insisted that the government allow a detailed discussion on the West Asia conflict. The Chair, however, did not permit the debate at that moment. BJP MP Jagdambika Pal, who presided over the proceedings, warned the protesting members. He reminded them that the minister had already addressed many concerns in his statement. Still, the protests did not stop. Consequently, the Chair adjourned the Lok Sabha for some time.
Government leaders later criticized the opposition’s conduct. Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha J.P. Nadda strongly condemned the protests. He accused opposition members of creating disorder inside Parliament. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also responded firmly. The minister said the government remains ready to debate any issue. At the same time, he urged opposition MPs to maintain parliamentary decorum.
The second phase of the Budget Session began on March 9 in a tense atmosphere. The Lok Sabha will also discuss a motion seeking the removal of Speaker Om Birla. Opposition MPs submitted the resolution with support from 118 members. Congress MPs Mohammad Jawed, K. Suresh, and Mallu Ravi moved the proposal. Because of this motion, Speaker Birla will not preside over the proceedings. In his absence, other presiding members will conduct the House proceedings.
