Khawaja Asif Controversy: Pak minister deletes anti-Israel post after backlash

Khawaja Muhammad Asif triggered a major diplomatic controversy after he posted strong remarks against Israel on social media and later deleted them following intense global backlash. As tensions continued in the Middle East, especially involving Iran and the United States, Asif accused Israel of carrying out violent operations in Lebanon and labeled it as a threat to humanity. His post also included offensive comments targeting Jews, which quickly drew widespread criticism.

Israel responded sharply to the remarks, escalating the diplomatic row. Benjamin Netanyahu’s office condemned the statement, calling it unacceptable and warning that such rhetoric undermines Pakistan’s credibility as a neutral party in peace negotiations. Gideon Sa’ar also reacted strongly, describing the comments as antisemitic and accusing Asif of promoting hostility. He further emphasized that Israel would continue to defend itself against threats.

Under mounting international pressure, Asif deleted the controversial post from X, signaling a partial retreat from his earlier stance. However, the incident has already stirred tensions and raised concerns about Pakistan’s diplomatic positioning.
