The unrest has now entered its 12th consecutive day, sparked by the falling value of the Iranian rial, soaring prices, and worsening living conditions. Human rights groups report that demonstrations have reached all 31 provinces, with dozens of protesters—including children—killed and thousands detained.
In response, authorities imposed a nationwide internet blackout, severely limiting communication and access to social media. State media sought to minimize the scale of the unrest, in some cases denying protests occurred, while international watchdogs warned that the shutdown was intended to curb the flow of information.
