Asaduddin Owaisi, a member of the all-party delegation headed by Baijayant Panda, stated that Pakistan should be reinstated on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list. Representing the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Owaisi expressed concern that Pakistan could potentially use the $2 billion loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to bolster its military and support terrorist organizations.
Owaisi Urges FATF Grey List Status for Pakistan to Ensure Financial Scrutiny
Asaduddin Owaisi, a member of the all-party delegation led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda for global outreach against terrorism, called for stricter financial scrutiny of Pakistan, according to news agency ANI. Speaking to the Indian diaspora in Kuwait, the AIMIM MP said, “We must bring Pakistan back to the FATF grey list. Being on the grey list subjects a country to intense scrutiny during financial transactions.” He also accused Pakistan of using money laundering and hawala networks in the Middle East to fund terror groups targeting India.

Owaisi criticized Pakistan for raising religious issues to target India, emphasizing that India has a larger Muslim population. He said, “Pakistan can’t use religion as an argument by claiming to represent Muslims. India has more Muslims, and we, the Indian Muslims, are more sincere than those in Pakistan.” The delegation, led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda, also includes Owaisi, BJP MPs Nishikant Dubey, Phangnon Konyak, and Rekha Sharma, MP Satnam Singh Sandhu, Ghulam Nabi Azad, and diplomat Harsh Shringla. The delegation aims to brief international partners on India’s response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack
