Indian consular staff in Canada under audio-video surveillance

Indian consular officials at the Vancouver consulate were recently notified by Canadian authorities. That they are under ongoing audio and video surveillance. Additionally, their private communications have reportedly been intercepted. This disclosure was made by the Centre in Parliament on Thursday, November 28, 2024.

Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh shared this information in a written statement submitted to the Rajya Sabha. He emphasized that such actions raise serious concerns about diplomatic protocols and mutual respect. Singh further highlighted the importance of maintaining respect for each other’s concerns.
