Haryana BJP government is in crisis, 3 independent MLAs withdraw support

The Haryana BJP government faces a crisis as three Independent MLAs have withdrawn their support. This development deals a significant blow to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, as the Independent MLAs announced their decision to support the Congress instead, leaving the current government in a minority in the state assembly.

The Nayab Singh Saini-led government, backed by two other Independent MLAs, now falls short by two seats to secure a majority in the 90-member Haryana assembly, currently comprising 88 members. Meanwhile, JJP leader Digvijay Singh Chautala has urged Bhupinder Singh Hooda to take steps to dismantle the government, citing its loss of public trust. Chautala further emphasized that Hooda should promptly engage with the governor to inform him of the prevailing situation.

Potential hung assembly scenario as government majority dwindles

Haryana is on the verge of a situation where no single party holds a majority to form a government, known as a hung assembly scenario. In such circumstances, it is customary for the governor to invite the leader of the largest party, which is currently the BJP, to attempt to form a government within a 10-day period. This allows the party to seek support from other political parties during this time frame.
