CHENNAI: A day after visiting the NDA meeting in New Delhi, where he was give prominence, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami showered accolades on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government’s achievements over the previous nine years on Wednesday. This is considered as a sign of strengthening the partnership with the BJP.
He also predicted that the NDA would win 330 of the 543 Lok Sabha seats in the upcoming elections. In response to questions from media in New Delhi, Palaniswami stated that all partners are accord similar priority in the NDA, regardless of size. He further highlighted that while the BJP leads the NDA at the national level, the AIADMK leads the coalition in Tamil Nadu.
The AIADMK leader questioned if achieving 50% plus votes in the Lok Sabha elections is possible despite factors like unemployment and rising commodity prices. He emphasized India’s development over the past nine years, which was well-address by the NDA government, and its global reputation under Modi’s leadership.
The DMK has accused the BJP-led government of not acting on corruption charges, but Palaniswami argues that only the DMK’s regime has dismiss for corruption. During the Congress-led UPA regime, DMK leaders K Kanimozhi and A Raja were arrest in the 2G spectrum case, and DMK’s V Senthil Balaji and K Ponmudy are facing an ED probe.
EPS also explains that the NDA partners function independently, while the DMK’s allies are “servile” to the DMK. The party has enrolled 1.72 crore members as of July 18, with a target of 2 crore. The AIADMK’s new office is expect to open in New Delhi in the Tamil month of Aavani.
