ABVP Leads in First Round of DUSU Election 2025 Counting

The counting of votes for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) Election 2025 continues with intensity. The chief election officer confirmed that the process may stretch up to 18–20 rounds overall. Officials emphasized that results will only be declared after completing the entire counting exercise without interruption. The Delhi High Court intervened strongly, barring candidates from holding any processions after securing victory. Judges instructed Delhi Police, university authorities, and local administration to strictly enforce preventive measures against disturbances. Security arrangements across the campus have been heightened to ensure the counting concludes smoothly and peacefully.

High Turnout and DUSU Voting Process

The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) election witnessed strong participation from students across multiple colleges on Thursday. More than 2.75 lakh eligible students came forward to cast their votes enthusiastically during the polling. Authorities managed voting at 52 centers, which collectively housed 195 booths for smooth operations. Officials deployed 711 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), ensuring efficiency and transparency throughout the voting exercise. After completion of polling, officials announced a final turnout figure of 39.45 percent overall. Students from over 50 constituent colleges participated, showcasing the significance of student politics at Delhi University.

Strict Court Directions and Security Measures

The Delhi High Court maintained its strict stand by completely banning victory celebrations after the elections. Judges stressed that students must respect democratic values and avoid actions that could spark campus tensions. Authorities were instructed to deploy sufficient security forces and ensure sensitive locations remained under strict surveillance. Delhi Police, university management, and local administrators have jointly taken steps to prevent potential clashes. Security personnel are monitoring entry and exit points of major colleges to deter large gatherings. The aim behind these restrictions remains maintaining peace and allowing the counting to conclude without disruptions.

Candidates and the Battle for Key Posts

A total of 21 candidates are actively contesting for the four primary posts in this election. The post of President has attracted maximum attention, with nine contestants competing fiercely for the seat. The remaining twelve candidates are engaged in a spirited battle for Vice President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary. Students and observers are watching closely as each round of counting reveals emerging trends among candidates. The competition remains tight, and every round could shift the momentum in favor of different groups. With results awaited, the DUSU Election 2025 is shaping up as a decisive moment for campus politics.
