Three weeks after the election results, the Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra has still not finalized cabinet portfolios between BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP.
Almost three weeks after securing a majority in the Maharashtra assembly elections, the Mahayuti alliance has yet to allocate cabinet portfolios among its three partners—BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP.
Shortly after Devendra Fadnavis took oath as Chief Minister, he held a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Thursday.
The meeting comes as the three parties seek intervention from central BJP leaders to resolve the remaining contentious issues.
On Wednesday night, Fadnavis and his deputy Ajit Pawar met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP president JP Nadda.
Disagreements over some cabinet departments continue, leading to the leaders’ visit to Delhi. However, a frustrated Eknath Shinde decided not to join the trip.

cabinet positions in Maharashtra
Sources say that Fadnavis, Shinde, and Ajit Pawar reached an agreement to allocate 22 ministerial positions to the BJP, 11 to Shiv Sena, and 10 to the NCP.
The maximum number of cabinet positions in Maharashtra, including the chief minister, is 43.
The distribution of berths may still change. BJP leaders say that if Shiv Sena and NCP request more positions, they will likely receive less significant portfolios.
BJP is expected to retain key portfolios, including home and revenue.
Shinde pushed for the home department but received urban development, while the NCP will get the finance portfolio.
