The Supreme Court granted interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal until June 1 in connection with a money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped Delhi liquor policy, following a brief hearing on a bail plea filed by Kejriwal challenging his arrest. He filed an interim bail plea challenging his arrest and seeking permission to campaign for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Supreme Court Denies Extension Request for Interim Bail
Kejriwal’s participation in campaigning could significantly influence the outcomes in these key regions. However, the Supreme Court has made it clear that Kejriwal must surrender on June 2, the day after the Lok Sabha elections conclude.
During the hearing, Kejriwal’s lawyer sought to extend the interim bail till June 5, but the bench denied the request. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Enforcement Directorate (ED), emphasized that Kejriwal should refrain from discussing the case and comply with the specified surrender date. Efforts are underway to secure Kejriwal’s release from Tihar Jail today, with his lawyer expected to proceed to the trial court to facilitate the issuance of the release order to the prison administration.
