Chirag rift with uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras widens as he returns to NDA

Chirag, who represents the Jamui Lok Sabha seat, stated that his father, LJP supremo Ram Vilas Paswan, decided to leave the NDA after Nitish returned in 2017.

PATNA: The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP-Ram Vilas) head and MP Chirag Paswan’s problems with his uncle, union minister Pashupati Kumar Paras, appear to have widened with the former’s return to the NDA. Since there is no sign of a reconciliation between Chirag and Paras, the BJP appears to be in a bind, with both leaders vying for the Paswan family’s historic Hajipur Lok Sabha seat in the state.

The NDA has gained a boost ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election as Chirag joined the party, which is thought to have the support of approximately 6% of Paswan supporters in Bihar.

Chirag stated shortly after attending the NDA allies meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday that the BJP had favourably considered all of his issues and asserted that the NDA would win all 40 seats in Bihar in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. He stated that he had no issues with the BJP, but that he had severed connections with the NDA in 2020 because Bihar Chief Minister and JD (U) leader Nitish Kumar was a member of the coalition at the time. His party, he said, was equally hostile to Nitish’s policies.

Chirag, representing Jamui Lok Sabha, announced his father and LJP supremo Ram Vilas Paswan quit NDA after Nitish returned in 2017. PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah informed his father that his party’s alliance was with BJP. Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) reacted sharply to Chirag’s return to the NDA, but he maintained that everyone had the right to contest the election from any seat.
