Calcutta HC orders to perform autopsy on BJP activist’s body

The Calcutta High Court on Friday asked the Command Hospital to conduct autopsy report under video surveillance of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leader who found dead under mysterious circumstances in Kashipur. A PIL has been filed in the High Court seeking judicial intervention on the death of the BJP’s youth activist on Friday morning.

“Arjun Chowrasia, 27, BJYM Mondal Vice-President, North Kolkata brutally slaughtered and hanged. This continuous slaying of opponent political workers highlights the demise of democracy in West Bengal. 57 BJP workers massacred in the last year. Humanity is smother by the TMC!,” the West Bengal unit of the BJP said in a tweet.

Another Calcutta tweet informed, “The death and murder of our committed karyakarta Arjun Chowrasia (27), resident of Kashipur Assembly, is deeply distressing. In view of the unfortunate killing, all celebrations to welcome Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah in Kolkata stand cancelled.”

BJP Vice-President Dilip Ghosh said, “This (BJYM worker’s murder) is a pre-planned strategy to disturb and threaten our workers. Our worker Abhijit killed on May 2 last year and 60 murders took place since then. Nobody has punish, no chargesheet has filed…It can’t be solve without CBI.”

Meanwhile, Atin Ghosh, TMC MLA from Kashipur reacted to the incident where a number of people were barring the cops to recover the body for further investigation. He said, “When an unnatural death occurs, Police takes body for investigation and postmortem. It’s a natural course of action. They have obstructed it with their bad intention of dirty politics. They’ve come from outside. So, we are strongly condemning it.”  

The Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday informed the Union Home Ministry has sought a report on the death of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) youth wing worker who was found dead in a deserted building. He met the family of the deceased and demanded for a CBI probe into the matter.
