Prime Minister Narendra Modi received British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who is on a two-day visit to India, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, where he was given a guard of honour.
Addressing the media, PM Boris Johnson said, “thank you for the wonderful welcome. I don’t think things have been as strong or good between us (India and UK) as they are now.”
After this, British PM Boris Johnson paid floral tributes at Raj Ghat and paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi.
The British Prime Minister will also hold talks with External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar. Both sides will issue a press statement at Hyderabad House at around 1 pm.
The occasion marks a strategic alliance between the UK and India in the fields of defence, diplomatic and economic partnership, which aims to enhance closer partnership and security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
