TMC: BJP says Bengal government will collapse in 5 months

The TMC rejected the BJP’s assertions, claiming that state-level BJP leaders are just using threats against a government that “enjoys mass support” to “raise their ratings in Delhi.”

KOLKATA: The BJP increased its criticism of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), which is now in power in West Bengal, on Sunday and predicted that Mamata Banerjee’s administration would soon fall.

The TMC has dismissed claims that BJP leaders in the state are attempting to raise their ratings in Delhi by threatening a government that enjoys mass support. BJP MP Shantanu Thakur said the TMC government won’t last beyond five months. Thakur said the BJP’s government has outlived its utility, and the recent panchayat polls showed widespread rigging. He believes this will be the last election under the TMC government, where state machinery, including the State Election Commission, has failed to play a neutral and impartial role. BJP’s Bengal chief Sukanta Majumdar said anything can happen at any time.

The Bengal BJP chief, Rajendra Majumdar, expressed concerns about the potential for a people’s uprising against the TMC’s misrule and terror. He also mentioned that the Centre will protect innocent people in Bengal. Suvendu Adhikari, the Opposition Leader in the Bengal assembly, demanded the imposition of Article 355 in the state, stating that central intervention is necessary in the state that witnessed violence during the panchayat polls. Adhikari emphasized that a democratically elected government cannot be toppled, but the Centre must intervene to prevent lawlessness.

TMC Rajya Sabha MP Santanu Sen claims BJP leaders are desperate to raise ratings in Delhi by issuing threats to a government with mass support. He claims the BJP is making these claims to boost morale.
