On Tuesday, BJP accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of protecting those responsible for the rape and murder of a doctor at the state-run RG Kar hospital in Kolkata. They also demanded that the CBI conduct a polygraph test on her.

The BJP has also called for a lie-detector test for Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goel and condemned the police’s use of force against protestors. BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia criticized the situation in West Bengal as a severe constitutional violation and accused Goel of mischaracterizing the rape and murder as a suicide.
