Property Row Erupts as BJP Targets Abhishek Banerjee, TMC Calls Claims False

The political battle in Kolkata intensified after the Bengal BJP released a controversial property list. The document allegedly connected 43 properties with Abhishek Banerjee and several close associates. BJP leaders claimed the properties existed across prominent Kolkata localities and demanded a detailed ownership investigation. The controversy emerged shortly after notices targeted multiple properties reportedly associated with the Trinamool Congress leadership. The issue immediately triggered heated reactions between the BJP and the ruling All India Trinamool Congress leadership across West Bengal.

BJP Releases Property List Targeting Abhishek Banerjee

The list attracted stronger attention after one property mentioned a co-owner named “Sayani Ghosh” in documents. Many social media users linked the mentioned individual with Saayoni Ghosh, the Jadavpur Member of Parliament. The property address reportedly mentioned Seven Tanks Lane, increasing online discussions and political speculation throughout the state. Saayoni Ghosh immediately denied any association and strongly rejected allegations connecting her with controversial property ownership. She warned critics against spreading unverified claims and announced legal action against fake information circulated online.

According to BJP sources, authorities would examine ownership documents, financial records, and possible irregularities linked with listed properties. The document reportedly originated from the Kolkata Municipal Corporation database, currently controlled by the Trinamool Congress administration. BJP leaders claimed investigators would verify funding sources and examine whether unlawful transactions supported property acquisitions across Kolkata. The allegations surfaced after civic authorities issued notices regarding unauthorised construction activities involving properties connected with Abhishek Banerjee. Officials reportedly demanded building approval documents and instructed owners to address construction irregularities within seven days immediately.

All India Trinamool Congress Rejects Allegations, Threatens Legal Action

The Trinamool Congress strongly rejected BJP allegations and described the circulated document as politically motivated and misleading entirely. Party leaders argued journalists should independently verify addresses and contact numbers before promoting allegations shared by opposition leaders. Former Rajya Sabha MP Saket Gokhale called the property document inaccurate and labelled the entire controversy a deliberate political hoax. TMC leaders argued multiple residents could share identical names, making property searches unreliable without proper ownership verification procedures. The ruling party also warned media organisations against spreading fabricated narratives without authentic evidence supporting the BJP allegations.

Amid escalating tensions, Suvendu Adhikari intensified attacks against Abhishek Banerjee and accused him of owning several disputed properties. Adhikari alleged many assets belonged either directly to Banerjee or companies associated with his family members. Responding firmly, Abhishek Banerjee declared he would continue opposing BJP pressure despite growing political confrontation across Bengal. He claimed political rivals attempted intimidation through notices, investigations, and public allegations surrounding property ownership controversies recently. The dispute has further sharpened political rivalry between BJP and Trinamool Congress before crucial upcoming electoral battles.
