Chhattisgarh Open to Peace Talks After Maoists’ Ceasefire Offer

Chhattisgarh Home Minister has reaffirmed the government’s readiness to hold peace talks with Maoist insurgents after their recent ceasefire proposal. He emphasized that the state has always supported dialogue, provided the rebels abandon violence and engage in meaningful discussions.

Maoist leaders recently announced their willingness to declare a ceasefire and negotiate with the government. In response, the Home Minister welcomed their proposal but insisted that the discussions must follow India’s constitutional framework. He assured that the government remains committed to restoring peace, protecting tribal communities, and promoting development in conflict-affected areas.

Government Focuses on Peace and Security

The government of Chhattisgarh continues to follow a dual strategy, combining security operations with welfare initiatives to address the Maoist insurgency. Security forces actively conduct operations to prevent violence, while authorities implement development projects in Maoist-affected regions. Officials believe that sustainable peace depends on both security measures and socio-economic progress.

The Home Minister warned that the government would not allow Maoists to misuse peace talks as a strategy to regroup. He urged them to prove their sincerity by surrendering arms and joining the mainstream.

Despite previous unsuccessful negotiations, the government remains hopeful for a peaceful resolution. Security forces stay on high alert, but officials have assured that they will respond positively to any genuine effort for dialogue. Now, the responsibility lies with the Maoists to take the next step toward lasting peace.
