Renowned Tamil actor and filmmaker G Marimuthu passed away today, September 8, at the age of 58. At approximately 8:30 am, he suffered a collapse while dubbing for his television series titled ‘Ethir Neechal’. He was swiftly taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Marimuthu was a well-known figure on YouTube and was last seen on the silver screen in Rajinikanth’s movies ‘Jailer’ and ‘Red Sandal Wood’. His unexpected demise has deeply saddened everyone. He is survived by his wife, Backiyalakshmi, and two children – Akilan and Ishwarya.

G MARIMUTHU DIES OF HEART ATTACK ON SEPTEMBER 8
G Marimuthu was known for his bold opinions, which often became a topic of debate on social media. Recently, he played one of the villain’s sidekicks in ‘Jailer’.
On September 8, he was dubbing for his TV show ‘Ethir Neechal’ along with his colleague Kamlesh. While dubbing, he collapsed at the studio in Chennai. When he was taken to a private hospital in Chennai’s Vadapalani, the doctors said he was brought dead. At the time of publishing this copy, his body is being kept at the hospital. His body will be shifted to his Chennai home (in Virugambakkam) for public homage.
Later today, his body will be taken to Theni, his hometown, where his final rites will be performed. His co-actors from ‘Ethirneechal’ have rushed to the hospital after hearing the shocking news.
ABOUT THE ACTOR-DIRECTOR
In previous interviews, Marimuthu shared that he left his home in Theni with the aspiration of becoming a director in the Kollywood film industry. He marked his directorial debut with ‘Kannum Kannum’ in 2008. In addition to his directorial work, he also took on various character roles in Tamil cinema. During the initial stages of his career, he had a close working association with lyricist Vairamuthu and served as an assistant director in Tamil films.
Some of his memorable performances include ‘Vaali’, ‘Jeeva’, ‘Pariyerum Perumal’, and ‘Jailer’, among others. Since 2022, he was a part of the Tamil television serial, ‘Ethir Neechal’. Marimuthu was a sensation on YouTube and was trending on social media platforms for his opinions. His reels from his TV show went viral on social media platforms.
