Shengol

The installation of “Sengol” was moved to Delhi’s new parliament building

The golden “Sengol,” which was housed in the Allahabad Museum, has been transported to the nation’s capital in preparation for the opening of the new Parliament building, according to Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh).
Notably, “Sengol,” a memorial in the new Parliament building, served as a symbol of the transfer of authority from the British to India.

The whole collection of former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru has been kept in the Allahabad Museum, and the famous “Sengol” was transported to the National Museum last year, according to Waman Wankhede, curator of the Allahabad Museum, who spoke to ANI.

The foundation stone for this museum was also placed by the previous prime minister Nehru, according to Waman Wankhede, curator of the Allahabad Museum. Under the direction of SC Kala, the Allahabad Museum’s then curator, he gave more than 1200 items. Nehru insisted that his whole collection be stored here. This golden stick was also retained in the collection along with everything else.

Sengol is a 162 cm long stick that has been polished in gold. On November 4, 2022, it was moved to the national museum, he continued.

The Sengol was chosen by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the Amrit Kaal’s national emblem. The exact identical event will take place in the new Parliament building, with Adheenam (Priests) performing the ritual again and vesting the PM with the Sengol.

The Prime Minister will place the same Sengol from 1947 prominently close to the Speaker’s podium in the Lok Sabha. It will be put on public display and brought out on significant events.
