The highest award bestowed by Fiji has been given to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. In a rare honour for a non-Fijian, PM Modi was awarded “The Companion of the Order of Fiji” for his leadership on the world stage.
Sitiveni Rabuka, the PM of Fiji, presented the medal to PM Modi.
A great honor for India. In acknowledgment of his leadership on a worldwide scale, Prime Minister Modi has received the highest distinction from Fiji: Companion of the Order of Fiji. Only a few non-Fijians have been given this award thus far, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
According to a tweet from the Ministry of External Affairs, Prime Minister Modi dedicated the distinction to the people of India and the generations of the Fiji-Indian community, who have contributed significantly to the unique and enduring link between the two nations.
He also spoke with his Fijian counterpart Rabuka outside of the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) conference.
“It was a pleasure to meet Fijian PM @slrabuka. We had a fascinating discussion about many subjects. India and Fiji have enduring relations that have withstood the test of time. In the upcoming years, we look forward to cooperating to further solidify it, the prime minister tweeted.
PM Modi has received the highest civilian distinctions from a number of countries. These honours are a testament to PM Modi’s vision and leadership, which have aided India’s ascension to global prominence. It also represents India’s expanding international connections.
