On Tuesday, the Supreme Court granted a week’s time to Yoga guru Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurved Ltd MD Balkrishna Acharya to rectify the alleged contempt. This came after their lawyers proposed to issue a public apology in relation to the misleading advertisements case.

Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing Ramdev and Balkrishna, informed a bench comprising Justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah that they are willing to issue a public apology.The Supreme Court summoned Ramdev and Balkrishna, who were both present in the court, to engage in an interaction with the bench.

The bench emphasized the importance of establishing a connection with the court.The ongoing hearing involves the bench currently engaging in dialogue with Ramdev.
Two separate affidavits submitted to the court
In two separate affidavits submitted to the court, Ramdev and Balkrishna have offered an unreserved apology for the “breach of the statement” outlined in the Supreme Court’s order dated November 21 of the previous year.

In the November 21, 2023 order, the Supreme Court had acknowledged the assurance given by counsel representing Patanjali Ayurved that there would be no further violation of laws, particularly pertaining to advertising or branding of products, and that no statements claiming medicinal efficacy or criticizing any system of medicine would be released to the media in any form.
