Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif warned Afghanistan following deadly attacks in Islamabad and South Waziristan this week. He accused the Afghan Taliban of sheltering militants responsible for orchestrating violence against Pakistani civilians and institutions. Asif added Pakistan may carry out strikes inside Afghanistan if further attacks threaten national security or citizens. He warned India and Afghanistan against misadventures, emphasizing Pakistan would retaliate forcefully and “pay back in the same coin.”

Pakistan Threatens Afghanistan Retaliation After Terror Attacks
The attacks killed 12 people in Islamabad, mostly lawyers, and injured more than 25 during peak business hours. Officials confirmed a suicide car bomb exploded outside the judicial complex, causing panic and structural damage nearby. The day before, militants attacked Cadet College Wana, injuring staff and students near the Afghan border region. The blasts prompted emergency response teams to secure the sites and assist wounded victims with immediate medical care.
Asif rejected Afghan Taliban condemnations, saying such statements could not prove sincerity or prevent further cross-border attacks. He emphasized Pakistan will respond decisively, ensuring no act of aggression against civilians or territory remains unanswered. Posting on X, Asif described the Islamabad attack as a nationwide wake-up call for security preparedness efforts.

Attacks, Casualties, and Rising Tensions
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif blamed India and Afghan-backed militants, claiming attacks originated from Afghan soil targeting civilians. He stated these attacks require international attention, asserting Pakistan’s right to defend citizens and national sovereignty actively. Sharif accused Afghan territory of being used repeatedly for terrorism, highlighting cross-border threats that must be addressed immediately.
Tensions escalated after Pakistan conducted airstrikes in Khost and Paktika provinces, targeting suspected TTP militant hideouts last month. Afghan Taliban condemned the strikes as violations of sovereignty, accusing Pakistan of destabilizing regional peace intentionally. Pakistan reinforced military presence along the border, prepared to counter any further cross-border terrorist provocations swiftly and decisively. The government vowed to maintain nationwide security vigilance, protect civilians, and prevent further attacks from Afghan-based militants.
