Farooq Abdullah remarked on Rajnath Singh’s statement

Farooq Abdullah Responding to Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s statement about merging Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) with India, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah remarked on Sunday that Pakistan is not sitting idly and possesses nuclear weapons that could pose a threat to India.

Responded to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s statement by acknowledging that if the Defence Minister is expressing such intentions, then they should proceed. However, he cautioned that Pakistan is also not passive in the situation and possesses nuclear weapons. He expressed concern that the consequences of any conflict could be dire, with the potential for nuclear bombs to harm their region.

Earlier in April, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had stated that given the progress and development in India, the residents of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) would eventually desire to join India on their own accord.

S. Jaishankar affirming that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir is an integral part of India

Don’t worry. PoK has always been and will continue to be a part of India, stated Mr. Singh during a rally in Darjeeling, West Bengal, where BJP’s sitting MP Raju Bista was nominated.

“India’s influence is growing, our global reputation is on the rise, and our economy is advancing rapidly. Now, our brethren in PoK will themselves seek to join India,” Mr. Singh added.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar echoed this sentiment on Sunday, affirming that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir is an integral part of India. He highlighted that there is a resolution passed by the Indian Parliament asserting the same. He emphasized that although PoK was sidelined in discussions previously, it is now back in the forefront of India’s consciousness.
