A large-scale protest by factory workers in Noida turned violent, with demonstrators vandalising vehicles and clashing with police in industrial areas. Protesters gathered in Phase 2, a major industrial hub, where they damaged property and blocked roads, causing significant traffic disruption. Authorities rushed additional police forces to control the situation and prevent further escalation.
The unrest stems from growing dissatisfaction among workers over low wages and poor working conditions. Many workers compared their salaries with those in neighbouring Haryana, where the government recently announced a 35% increase in minimum wages. A Worker in Noida argued that they perform similar jobs but receive significantly lower pay. They have demanded a minimum salary of ₹20,000 per month, overtime compensation, safer workplaces, and proper grievance redressal systems.
