The New Year is expected to start on a chilly note, with Jammu and Kashmir likely to experience heavy snowfall. Parts of North India bracing for rain beginning January 4, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday. The IMD attributed this weather to a Western Disturbance impacting Pakistan and nearby regions. An active Western Disturbance is anticipated from January 4 which potentially bringing light to moderate rainfall to Northwest India in Kashmir, the department stated.

Jammu and Kashmir : IMD Forecasts Dense Fog in Several States
The IMD’s latest weather update forecasts dense fog in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, West Bengal, and Sikkim until tomorrow. Meanwhile, dense fog is likely to affect Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura until January 5.

Delhi to experience cold day conditions until January 3
The Met Department said cold day conditions will prevail in Delhi until January 3, with no relief for residents of the national capital from the freezing weather. On Tuesday, the minimum temperature recorded was 9.6 degrees Celsius, 2.6 notches above normal. The forecast expects the maximum temperature to reach 15 degrees. The IMD update said the sky will remain mainly clear on Tuesday and Wednesday, but is likely to be cloudy on Thursday and Friday
