Tamil Nadu Government Denies Plans to Ban Hindi Hoardings and Songs

The Tamil Nadu government has officially denied reports of banning Hindi hoardings, boards, and songs.
Multiple reports claimed MK Stalin’s government planned to introduce a bill against Hindi language displays. The clarification came after widespread social media buzz about an anti-Hindi bill in the Assembly. Fact-checkers from the state quickly responded to the misleading viral posts making rounds online. The government confirmed no such bill was introduced or discussed in the legislative assembly sessions.

Official Statement on Social Media

The Tamil Nadu fact-check unit posted on X to debunk the ongoing false claims. They stated clearly that the Chief Minister had no plans to ban the Hindi language. The official post addressed misinformation and assured people that no such move was underway. They quoted the Assembly Secretary, saying no proposal for any such bill was submitted. The state urged the public not to believe unverified information circulated through social media platforms.

The controversy began after BJP’s K Annamalai accused DMK of focusing on language politics. He compared Tamil Nadu unfavorably with Andhra Pradesh’s deal to build an AI Data Centre. Annamalai criticized Stalin, claiming he prioritizes banning Hindi over technological and economic development.
His remarks suggested DMK was engaging in divisive politics instead of real governance. The comment stirred political debate and intensified the ongoing “Hindi imposition” controversy in Tamil Nadu.

Hindi: DMK’s Response to BJP’s Remarks

DMK MP P Wilson responded, dismissing Annamalai’s claims as fake and politically motivated. He mocked the BJP leader, calling him “aandh bhakt” and defending Tamil Nadu’s achievements. Wilson highlighted the government’s success under the Dravida Model, countering claims of misplaced priorities. He mentioned the clarification by the official fact-check team to shut down the false narrative. Wilson emphasized that BJP leaders are ignoring Tamil Nadu’s substantial economic growth and investments.

Wilson noted that Tamil Nadu signed 893 MoUs since 2021 with global and domestic companies. These agreements attracted investments worth ₹10.07 lakh crore and created over 31 lakh jobs. He claimed the DMK government focuses on economic progress, not unnecessary language controversies. DMK leaders defended their governance model as development-driven and inclusive of all languages. The party urged the public to rely on verified information, not politically driven fake news.
