The incident occurred as border troops engaged in an intense firefight with the terrorists, successfully preventing an infiltration attempt.
Terrorist Movement Detected
Alert Army troops picked up the movement of the terrorists trying to sneak into this side from across the LoC in the Khari Karmara area. Leading to a gunfight between the two sides, news agency PTI quoted officials as saying.

Several weapons and war-like stores were recovere from the slain terrorists as a search operation was launche in the area.
On January 25, Army troops engaged in a gunfight with terrorists in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district. The confrontation began when security forces detected suspicious movement in the area, prompting an immediate response. As the troops advanced to intercept, the terrorists opened fire. Leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire between the two sides.
At around 1:20 am, an alert sentry at a temporary Army camp in Batod panchayat spotted suspected terrorist movement and opened fire.
They said the terrorists fired back and the intermittent exchange of fire continued between the two sides for nearly half an hour.
