On the morning of December 26, 2024, IRCTC’s website and mobile app experienced a major outage, leaving passengers stranded during important booking hours. Downdetector, which monitors online service disruptions, recorded over 2,000 complaints by 11:00 AM. Users faced error messages such as “unable to perform action due to maintenance activity” on the app and a “Downtime Message” on the website, causing further frustration for travelers.

The outage couldn’t have come at a worse time, as many travelers rely on IRCTC’s e-ticketing platform for their railway bookings, especially during the holiday season. While the issue persisted, passengers began searching for alternative ways to manage their tickets.

IRCTC Down: How to Cancel or Reschedule Tickets

IRCTC has provided options for passengers needing to cancel or reschedule tickets despite the downtime. Travelers can either call customer care or email their ticket details to request a Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR). Here are the official contact details for assistance:
