Indian woman visits Pakistan, weds friend, converts to Islam

The 34-year-old Indian woman was staying at the home of her 29-year-old Pakistani acquaintance Nasrullah in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Upper Dir area.
PESHAWAR: Anju, an Indian mother of two children who travelled to a rural area in Pakistan, married her Facebook friend Fatima on Tuesday after converting to Islam.

Anju, 34, and Nasrullah, 29, married in a local court in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They met on Facebook in 2019 and tied the knot in a court. The marriage was solemnize after Anju converted to Islam. Family members, police, and lawyers attended the ceremony.

Malakand Division Deputy Inspector General Nasir Mehmood Satti confirmed the nikkah and named Indian woman Anju Fatima after her conversion to Islam. The Indian woman has shifted home from the court under police security. They signed the nikkah on their own will and visited the Lawari tunnel connecting Dir Upper District with Chitral District. Anju and Nasrullah was seen holding hands in a lush green garden during their visit.

Anju, born in Kailor village, Uttar Pradesh, and living in Rajasthan, shared a video before her marriage expressing her safety in Pakistan. She stated that she arrived legally and with planning, and urged media not to harass her relatives and children. Anju is marry to Arvind, who is in Rajasthan, and they have a 15-year-old daughter and a six-year-old son.

Anju, a science graduate from Sheringal University, has grant a 30-day visa to Pakistan’s High Commission in New Delhi. Nasrullah, the youngest of five brothers, has provided an affidavit stating there is no love angle to their friendship. Anju is expect to return to India on August 20. Her travel documents have been verified, and she is allow to stay with Nasrullah. Anju’s case is similar to Seema Ghulam Haider’s, who sneaked into India to live with Sachin Meena.
