Cabinet Approval for PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana: Rooftop Solar Installation for One Crore Households
In a meeting led by PM Modi, the Union cabinet granted approval for the PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PM-SGMBY), which involves the installation of rooftop solar systems in one crore households across the country. The scheme comes with a total outlay of ₹75,021 crore. Union Minister Anurag Thakur, during a briefing to reporters, announced the approval and highlighted that under this initiative, one crore families will receive 300 units of free electricity each month.
