India has launched a fresh round of oil and gas exploration to boost domestic energy production. Under the 11th round of the Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP-XI), the gover nment is offering 21 blocks covering nearly 80,228 square kilometres.

India Launches OALP-XI to Boost Energy Exploration
Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri called the launch a major milestone, stating that OALP-XI begins a new phase in India’s energy journey. He emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening energy security and reducing reliance on imports.
Earlier, in OALP-10, the government had offered around 25 blocks spanning 182,589 square kilometres. With OALP-XI, it is further expanding exploration opportunities across both onshore and offshore regions.
In a post on X, Puri said the initiative aims to unlock vast resources beneath land and sea while supporting growth, resilience, and self-reliance. He also noted that the move aligns with the government’s broader strategy to accelerate bidding processes and increase exploration activities.
