Health Department Urges Immediate Medical Care

Doctors said heavy rain and waterlogging have forced snakes to leave their natural habitats and move into residential areas and agricultural fields. As a result, the chances of human-snake encounters have increased significantly. Medical staff immediately administered anti-venom to the affected patients. According to doctors, most of the victims are responding well to treatment and remain out of danger.

The health department has issued a public advisory asking residents to stay extra cautious, especially after sunset. Officials advised people to use flashlights while walking outdoors at night and sleep under mosquito nets as an added precaution. They also recommended keeping homes clean and using insecticides where necessary. Authorities stressed that snakebite victims should seek immediate medical treatment instead of relying on traditional healers.

Officials confirmed that at least three people have lost their lives due to snakebites in the past five days. Several other patients are currently receiving treatment at the district hospital. Waterlogging in low-lying areas has pushed snakes into villages and populated neighborhoods, increasing the risk of bites. The recent fatalities have raised fear among residents across the district.

The health department has directed all Community Health Centres (CHCs) and Primary Health Centres (PHCs) to maintain an adequate stock of anti-snake venom. Medical teams have been instructed to remain prepared for emergency cases. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rainfall in several parts of Uttar Pradesh, prompting authorities to continue monitoring the situation and urging people to remain vigilant.
