India, France and the UAE Conduct Large Air Exercise Over Arabian Sea

India, France, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) collaborated in a major air exercise over the Arabian Sea in response to growing global concerns about Houthi militants targeting commercial vessels in the crucial waterways of the region. Codenamed ‘Desert Knight,’ the exercise occurred on Tuesday and showcased advanced aerial assets and combat jets from the air forces of the three nations.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) participated with Su-30 MKI, MiG-29, and Jaguar fighter jets, along with AWACS, C-130-J transport planes, and air-to-air refueling aircraft. The primary objective of the exercise was to enhance synergy and interoperability among the three air forces, according to the IAF.

Taking place in the Indian Flight Information Regions (FIRs), the exercise utilized IAF aircraft operating from various bases in India. The timing of the exercise was notable, given the escalating attacks by Houthi militants on commercial vessels in the Red Sea.
