The Delhi High Court directed multiple social media platforms and individuals to remove defamatory posts that falsely linked Himayani Puri, daughter of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, to convicted offender Jeffrey Epstein. The court issued this order after Himayani Puri filed a defamation suit demanding ₹10 crore in damages and immediate removal of the misleading content.
Delhi HC content case: Removal order issued
Justice Mini Pushkarna heard the matter and instructed the concerned users to delete the posts within 24 hours. The court warned that if users failed to comply, the respective platforms must block or restrict access to such content without delay. The court also imposed restrictions to prevent anyone from publishing or circulating similar allegations in the future.
In her plea, Himayani Puri stated that several social media accounts and digital platforms deliberately spread false information as part of a coordinated online campaign. She argued that the baseless claims severely harmed her personal and professional reputation in India and abroad. She further emphasized that the content had no factual basis and only aimed to defame her.
The court observed that the petitioner had established a strong prima facie case. It acknowledged that the continued circulation of such defamatory content could cause irreparable damage to her dignity and public image. Considering the urgency of the matter, the court granted interim relief and acted swiftly to prevent further harm.

This case highlights the growing concern over online misinformation and the responsibility of social media platforms to act promptly against defamatory and false content. It also reinforces the legal remedies available to individuals facing reputational harm in the digital age.
