The nation will celebrate Constitution Day on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, with a grand event led by Droupadi Murmu at the historic Central Hall inside the old Parliament building. The gathering will mark the anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution by the Constituent Assembly in 1949. Since 2015, India has observed Constitution Day annually on this date to honour that milestone. This year’s celebration will carry symbolic weight as lawmakers and citizens join to reaffirm democratic values and constitutional commitments.

President Droupadi Murmu to Lead Constitution Day Celebrations at Historic Central Hall
As a key highlight, the government—through the Legislative Department of the Union Law Ministry—will digitally release versions of the Constitution in nine additional languages: Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Punjabi, Bodo, Kashmiri, Telugu, Odia, and Assamese. This effort aims to broaden accessibility and ensure more Indians can read the foundational legal text in their native languages. In doing so, the Ministry hopes to strengthen constitutional awareness and inclusion across India’s linguistic diversity. Alongside this digital launch, the event will release a commemorative booklet showcasing calligraphy from the original handwritten Constitution text—adding historical and cultural significance to the day.
At the national function, several top constitutional office-holders will speak. The event will open with addresses from the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and the Vice-President (who also serves as Rajya Sabha Chair), followed by a speech from the President herself. Other dignitaries—including the Prime Minister, Union Ministers, and Members of Parliament—will also attend, underscoring the broad official involvement. The President will lead the ceremonial reading of the Preamble to the Constitution, symbolically reaffirming the nation’s foundational values. The structure of the programme reflects respect for institutional tradition and solemn commemoration.

Digital Launch of the Constitution in Nine Languages Marks Nationwide Civic Engagement
Beyond the central ceremony in Delhi, the government has encouraged nationwide participation. All Union ministries, their subordinate offices, state and Union territory governments, local bodies, and civic organisations will hold parallel programmes to mark the occasion. Citizens will get involved through online initiatives such as reading the Preamble on platforms like MyGov.in and Constitution75.com. Additionally, national-level online quizzes and blog or essay contests will run under the theme “Hamara Samvidhan – Hamara Swabhiman”. These activities aim to engage people of all ages and promote deeper understanding of the Constitution’s spirit.
Communities at grassroots levels will also celebrate through diverse events such as seminars, debates, exhibitions, short film screenings, cultural performances, poster and painting competitions, and rangoli contests with constitutional themes. Such widespread events — from Panchayat to Parliament — will reinforce the message that the Constitution belongs to every citizen and that constitutional values must animate everyday life. In doing so, the celebrations will not only commemorate the past but also emphasize active citizenship, unity, and the continued relevance of constitutional ideals across contemporary India.
