Pakistan Shells Civilian Areas After India’s Operation Sindoor, 7 Killed, 38 Injured

Pakistan launched heavy artillery fire on civilian areas along the Line of Control (LoC) just hours after India carried out a precision military strike under Operation Sindoor. The unprovoked attack killed seven civilians and injured at least 38 others in multiple border villages of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to official sources, Pakistan initiated the shelling early morning, targeting densely populated areas in Poonch and Rajouri districts. Schools shut down immediately, and panic spread across villages as mortar shells rained on homes, fields, and public structures. The Indian Army responded with retaliatory fire, targeting Pakistani positions that initiated the aggression.

India Condemns Attack on Pakistan, Vows Strong Response

India strongly condemned the attack and stated that Pakistan deliberately targeted civilians to provoke unrest after Operation Sindoor eliminated several high-value terror operatives near the border. The Ministry of External Affairs called it “a desperate and inhumane act,” adding that India will respond at a time and manner of its choosing as a revenge of pahalgam attack.

Eyewitnesses said several families had just begun their morning routines when shells struck homes without warning. Medical teams rushed to the scene, and helicopters airlifted critical patients to military hospitals. Among the dead were two children and a woman.

Officials deployed National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) units and coordinated relief efforts. Army engineers also started rebuilding damaged shelters and critical infrastructure under emergency protocols.

The international community has expressed concern over the escalation. Meanwhile, India has issued a diplomatic note to Pakistan, holding it accountable for civilian deaths and warning of consequences if such provocations continue.
