West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee posted a video on her X (formerly Twitter) account, featuring a police official accusing BJP members of labeling him as a ‘Khalistani’. Expressing frustration, IPS officer Jaspreet Singh conveyed his sentiments while assigned with the duty of preventing the visit of West Bengal’s opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari to Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas. Singh reportedly faced the ‘Khalistani’ insult from activists of the saffron party, leading to his expression of frustration.
Jaspreet Singh, an IPS officer assigned to Dhamakhali to prevent the West Bengal leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari from visiting Sandeshkhali, became upset when activists from the saffron party allegedly insulted him by calling him a ‘Khalistani’. In a video shared by the Trinamool Congress chief, a senior police official is heard expressing his displeasure, stating, “I will take action on this. Just because I am wearing a turban, you are saying this. If I was not wearing a turban, would you call me a Khalistani? You cannot make derogatory remarks about my religion.”

Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee shared a video featuring a senior police official expressing his determination to take action against an alleged ‘Khalistani’ insult. Confronting the offenders, he deemed the targeting based on his turban unacceptable and questioned if the same accusation would be made if he weren’t wearing it. The official underscored the inappropriateness of bringing religion into the discussion.
