Bomb Threat on London-Bound Air India Flight; Suspect Apprehended

An official stated that although an Air India flight headed for London got a bomb threat here on Tuesday, no explosives were discovered. Authorities have detained a guy who they believe made the threatening call, according to a spokesman for Cochin International Airport.

According to a statement he made here, security professionals thoroughly inspected the aircraft and discovered no threats, so the trip could continue as scheduled.

Early Morning Bomb Threat Prompts Swift Response at Cochin Airport

He claims that early on Tuesday, the Air India call centre in Mumbai received a bomb threat call about flight AI 149, which was supposed to depart from Cochin and arrive at London Gatwick. At 01:22 hours, the notice was swiftly relayed to both Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) and Air India here.

At CIAL, a Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was promptly constituted in accordance with established processes. After assessment, the threat was identified as particular. Subsequently, the Airport Security Group (ASG-CISF), airline security staff, and in-line baggage screening equipment carried out extensive security checks.

Flight AI 149 Cleared for Departure After Thorough Security Checks; Suspect Apprehended

The Cochin Airport BTAC’s suggestions were followed, and the aircraft was relocated to a secure aircraft parking area and extensive security measures were implemented. After a thorough inspection, the aircraft was given the all-clear to take off.

The caller who reported the threat to the Mumbai call centre was tracked down. According to investigations, Suhaib (29), a resident of Kondotty in the Malappuram district, made the call. He was planning to take the AI 149 aircraft to London. During Suhaib’s check-in at the international departure terminal of Cochin Airport, ASG intercepted him together with his wife and daughter.
