The army’s special forces and the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Police shot dead three terrorists in an operation in Kathua district today. The operation is going on, sources said. The units involved in the operation are the army’s 1 Para, 22 Garhwal Rifles, and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Union Territory’s police.
Earlier today, a Border Security Force (BSF) soldier sustained injuries due to unprovoked firing by Pakistani forces in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The incident underscores the ongoing volatility along the India-Pakistan border, particularly in regions like Akhnoor, which are prone to intermittent clashes and skirmishes.
Following the attack, the BSF, responsible for guarding the 3,323 km-long India-Pakistan international border, has heightened its alert status. This extensive border stretches across various terrains and sectors, each presenting unique security challenges and levels of tension. The BSF’s primary mandate is to ensure the security and integrity of this international boundary, responding effectively to any breaches or hostilities.
The injured soldier has been provided with immediate medical attention, and the situation is being closely monitored by the security forces. The BSF continues to be on high alert to counter any further provocations and to safeguard the border area. The incident serves as a reminder of the persistent and challenging security environment in the region, highlighting the need for constant vigilance and preparedness by the security forces stationed along the border.
