22 children escape school bus overturn in Mahabubabad

Kesamudaram Sub-Inspector (SI) K Thirupati informed the media that all of the 22 youngster children fled without injury and were safely turned over to their parents.

MAHABUBABAD: 22 children were travelling from Kesamudaram to Beriwada village when their school bus overturned on Monday evening. The accident happened on a Kesamudaram bypass road.

Local villagers immediately contacted authorities after witnessing the accident, and police arrived on the spot. The crash caused a 2-kilometer-long traffic bottleneck, but cops took immediate action to control it.

When the parents of the youngsters learned of the occurrence, they went to the scene. According to the students, the accident occurred because the bus driver was conversing on his phone while driving, which caused him to lose control of the steering. As a result, the school bus flipped on the outskirts of Kesamudaram hamlet. Locals rushed to the rescue, pulling the trapped youngsters from the bus and immediately notifying the Kesamudaram police station.

Kesamudaram Sub-Inspector (SI) K Thirupati told the media that all of the youngsters escape unharmed and were safely turn over to their parents. He added that the children were returning home from school when the tragedy occurred owing to the incompetence of the school bus driver, O Srikanth.

The children protested that the driver was using his smartphone while driving.

The bus driver fled the scene, and officials are aggressively looking for him, he said.

Thirupati added that a case has been filed and that an extensive investigation is underway.
