Bus Breakdown Leads to 11 Pedestrians Hit by Truck on Rajasthan Highway

In the Rajasthan accident, one survivor reported that a fast-moving truck collided with the bus while the driver and a few passengers stood behind it.

A tragic incident on Rajasthan’s Bharatpur National Highway resulted in the loss of 11 lives and injuries to 12 people. The accident involved a truck colliding with a bus heading from Pushkar,Rajasthan,to Vrindavan,UttarPradesh,happening at approximately 4:30 am,according to the police.


The incident occurred when the bus had broken down on a bridge. A survivor recounted how the driver and passengers were behind the bus when speeding truck crashed into their vehicle.

The bus had halted at Antra flyover in the Lakhanpur area after running out of fuel when the truck rammed into it from behind. Five men and six women died on the spot, police said.

“The bus was standing on the highway while its repairing work was going on. Some passengers were in the bus while some were standing outside when the collision took place”, said Mridul Kachawa, Superintendent of Police (SP), Bharatpur.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the accident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared ₹2 lakh for deceased victims’ families and ₹50,000 for the injured as compensation.

Expressing grief over the incident, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also offered condolences to the families of those who died.

“The death of 11 people in a collision between a bus, that had come from Gujarat, and a trailer in Bharatpur is extremely sad. The police administration is present at the spot and the injured have been admitted to the hospital. I pray to God to give peace to the souls of all the deceased and courage to the families. May God give speedy recovery to all the injured,” Mr Gehlot said in a tweet.
