Pune: Condoms, stones, gutkha etc found in samosas served in Tata Motors Company

The Pimpri Chinchwad police have initiated an investigation and apprehended a suspect after finding condoms, gutka, and stones in multiple samosas served at the canteen of a prominent automotive company.

Preliminary police investigation indicates that the adulteration was a deliberate act carried out by a sub-contractor whose supply contract had been terminated earlier.

FIR Filed After Discovery of Contaminated Samosas

An FIR in the case has been registered at Chikhali police station on Sunday by the General Manager of catering services company based in Aundh whose services have been hired by the automobile major to supply food for the canteen.

“On March 27, in the samosas served in the canteen of the automobile company, the employees found condoms, banned gutka and paan masala and also some stones. The catering company had given a complaint to the police station,” said an officer from the police station.

Investigation Reveals Sabotage Scheme

The officer added, “Probe suggest that the catering contractor had given a sub-contract for the supply of samosas to a local entity. This sub-contract was terminated after an adhesive bandage used for first aid was found in their samosas. This sub-contract was subsequently given to another entity. Investigation suggests that the earlier sub-contractor had sent his two employees to work for the new sub-contractor to sabotage the business. We have booked five persons including three who run the supplier firm and the two employees who were sent to work for the second company.”

Senior Inspector Dnyaneshwar Katkar, when reached for comment, stated, “We have apprehended an individual associated with the initial subcontractor, and the investigation is ongoing.”

The police have invoked Section 328 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with causing harm to an individual by administering poison or any harmful substance.
