Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak Temple bans torn jeans and skirts

Visitors to Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak Temple must wear modest, body-covering clothing, preferably Indian attire, as per a new dress code by the temple trust.

Starting next week, Siddhivinayak Temple authorities will prohibit devotees from wearing short skirts or revealing outfits on the premises.

The decision to enforce a dress code at Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak Temple comes in response to numerous complaints from devotees regarding inappropriate attire worn by visitors. Many worshippers expressed concerns that certain clothing choices. Such as short skirts and revealing outfits, were disrespectful in a sacred space dedicated to religious practices and devotion. In light of these repeated requests, the Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple Trust (SSGTT) decided to introduce guidelines to ensure that all visitors adhere to a standard of modesty.
