Maharashtra continues to receive widespread rainfall, affecting normal life across several districts. Heavy showers have disrupted road traffic and caused waterlogging in parts of Mumbai and Pune. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more rain across the state on Wednesday. Although rainfall intensity may gradually decrease over the next few days, many areas are still expected to experience wet weather.
IMD Issues Heavy Rain Warning for Konkan Districts
The IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the Konkan districts of Palghar, Raigad, and Ratnagiri. Mumbai, Thane, and nearby areas are likely to receive moderate rainfall throughout the day. The weather department has also predicted light showers in Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, and Wardha. Residents in these regions may also witness thunderstorms, lightning, and strong gusty winds.
Heavy rain continued to lash Mumbai during the early hours of Wednesday, creating waterlogged roads and slowing traffic movement across the city. Key routes, including the Eastern Express Highway, witnessed congestion as commuters struggled with flooded stretches. Authorities remained on alert and continued monitoring the situation while civic teams worked to clear waterlogged areas and maintain smooth traffic flow.

Waterlogging Affects Mumbai Traffic as Train Services Face Disruptions
The ongoing rainfall also affected railway operations, forcing the cancellation of several long-distance trains, including the Ahmedabad–Mumbai Central Vande Bharat Express, Tejas Express, Karnavati Express, and AC Double Decker Express. Western Railway also diverted the routes of some trains but confirmed that suburban local services on the Churchgate–Virar corridor continue to operate normally. Officials advised passengers to check the latest travel updates before starting their journey.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) dismissed rumours about schools and colleges remaining closed due to rain. Civic authorities clarified that educational institutions will function as usual and denied reports claiming that private employees had been directed to work from home. Officials urged citizens to stay updated with official weather advisories and exercise caution while travelling during the ongoing monsoon.
