Nagpur GP becomes the first in the state to designs course for EVs

Considering the global market need for Electric Vehicles (EVs) as the future, the Automobile Department of Government Polytechnic has designed a course for that domain. Nagpur’s Government Polytechnic became the first in the State to do so. Dr. G K Awari, Head of the Department told, “The future of Electric Vehicles in India is bright with the advent of path-breaking EV Technologies in India. EVs proved to be a cleaner alternative to fossil-fuel-powered vehicles and also cost-effective vehicles. Therefore, EV adoption in India is fast due to soaring fuel prices. To Meet Future Demand for Trained Manpower in EVs, it is essential to start offering courses on Electric Vehicles. In the wake of the development, we made the effort towards creating a skilled workforce in the country in the domain of Electric Vehicles. The department has designed the course curriculum working in tandem with the industry experts for the same.”

Keeping pace with global needs

The Department has inaugurated the Certificate Course in Electric Vehicle Technology. To clear the concepts of teachers and students, the department had invited Praful Rewatkar, Director, Khamla Automobiles and Motors, who guided on this issue. He informed the audience, about the skill initiatives required in the domain of EV and encouraged the audience to take benefit of the created facility of Electric Vehicle at GP Nagpur. Dr. Awari has elaborated on the details of the Course which will be offered in a blended mode of learning and also informed the gathering about the EV laboratory facility. Keeping pace with global needs, the Department has already set up a well-equipped laboratory which was inaugurated by the Maharashtra Minister of Higher and Technical Education. Dr. Awari made it clear, “While designing the course we have taken utmost care that students would learn practical skills. Because now EV vehicles are fast grabbing the automobile industry and our students will be become a trained, skilled workforce, so we have taken help from people from the automobile industry.”
