US strikes Iran missile sites, boats

The United States launched fresh strikes on southern Iran and targeted missile launch sites and boats that allegedly attempted to place naval mines near the Strait of Hormuz. US Central Command said the military carried out the operation in self-defense to protect American troops from threats posed by Iranian forces. Officials stated that the US military acted with restraint despite the ongoing ceasefire between both countries. The attacks mainly targeted areas near Bandar Abbas, a major Iranian port city and naval base. Iran has not yet issued an official response to the latest strikes.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said diplomats continued talks with Iran despite the military operation. He stated that negotiators from Iran and Qatar discussed ways to reduce tensions and move toward a possible agreement. Rubio emphasized that the United States wanted to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and called any disruption in the region illegal and unacceptable. He also said President Donald Trump wanted to secure a strong agreement with Iran. However, officials acknowledged that negotiations could continue for several more days..

US launches fresh strikes on Iran targets

Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqai confirmed progress in discussions aimed at ending the conflict but rejected claims that both sides were close to a final agreement. Reports indicated that negotiators discussed a proposal that included a 60-day ceasefire extension, reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and further talks over Iran’s nuclear programme. Iranian officials insisted that several major issues still required resolution. Diplomatic efforts continued across the Gulf region while military activities from both sides increased tensions. The situation continued to create uncertainty around the peace process.

The conflict also increased concerns over Iran’s nuclear activities. Reports suggested that Iran possessed a large amount of uranium enriched to 60% purity, which experts believed could quickly reach weapons-grade levels. Trump stated that Iran should immediately hand over the enriched uranium to the United States or destroy it under joint supervision. American officials continued to demand strict limits on Iran’s nuclear ambitions as part of any future agreement. Negotiators also planned to discuss sanctions relief and the release of frozen Iranian funds in upcoming talks.

The conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran created major instability across the Middle East and global energy markets. Earlier attacks and naval clashes in the Strait of Hormuz disrupted shipping routes and sharply increased international oil prices. Iran tightened control over Gulf shipping lanes while the US Navy expanded military operations in the region. Although both sides observed a ceasefire since April, repeated military incidents continued to raise tensions. Analysts warned that the latest strikes could complicate diplomatic efforts and delay a long-term peace agreement between the two countries.
