Trans-Yamuna Board Greenlights 728 Crore in Major Projects

On Thursday, the Trans-Yamuna Area Development Board approved ₹728 crore worth of projects to boost infrastructure in the region. The projects will focus on road redevelopment, drainage improvements, and monsoon preparedness. During the meeting, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta instructed officials to prioritize repairing damaged roads, drainage systems, and waterlogging hotspots before the upcoming monsoon season. She stressed the need for immediate attention to commuter safety and convenience.

The Trans-Yamuna Area Development Board approved ₹728 crore worth of projects, which the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and other agencies will execute. The projects will focus on road refurbishments, park upgrades, and public amenities. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta assured there would be no financial constraints in implementing these projects, stressing the importance of balancing beautification with basic civic needs. She highlighted the Delhi government’s goal to make the Trans-Yamuna region a desirable place to live, while ensuring that essential infrastructure like roads, drainage systems, waterlogging prevention, and safe mobility remain top priorities.

728 Crore Plan to Revamp Trans-Yamuna Area

Gupta criticized the previous government for leaving the board “completely inactive,” which she claimed halted development and caused significant public inconvenience. She emphasized that her administration now prioritizes the region’s development.Delhi Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra and Board Chairman Arvinder Singh Lovely attended the meeting and highlighted that despite the area’s growing population and needs, the region had long faced neglect. Mishra acknowledged this lack of development, while Lovely called the proposals from local MLAs “extremely significant” for transforming the region’s infrastructure. The plan will focus on improving roads, drainage, public amenities, and tourism-related works to integrate the Trans-Yamuna area into Delhi’s mainstream developed zones. The projects will cover 16 assembly constituencies in the region.
