Royal Challengers Bengaluru delivered a dominant performance against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2026, posting a massive total of 250 in Bengaluru. The hosts controlled the game from the start and set their highest-ever score against CSK. Tim David led the charge with an explosive innings. The emphatic display secured a comfortable 43-run victory for RCB.
RCB built their innings steadily after opting to bat first at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Virat Kohli and Phil Salt started cautiously before accelerating the scoring rate. Kohli scored 28 off 18 balls, while Salt added a quick 46. Devdutt Padikkal contributed a fluent 50, ensuring a strong foundation.

CSK top order collapse costs them heavily against RCB’s record total
The middle and death overs saw RCB shift gears aggressively with powerful hitting. Rajat Patidar played a crucial unbeaten knock of 48 off 19 balls. Tim David dominated the bowling attack and smashed 70 runs off just 25 deliveries. His innings included eight sixes and accelerated the total rapidly in the final overs.
CSK struggled in the chase and lost momentum early due to top-order failures. Ruturaj Gaikwad and other key batters failed to provide a solid start. Sarfaraz Khan scored a quick 60 off 25 balls, while Prashant Veer and Jamie Overton added useful runs. Despite these efforts, CSK could only reach 207 before getting bowled out.
RCB’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings and restricted CSK effectively. Gaikwad later accepted responsibility for the defeat and admitted that the team lacked a strong start. The loss marked CSK’s third consecutive defeat in the season. Meanwhile, RCB continued their strong run at home and signaled their intent for the tournament.
