Three soldiers injured in blast inside private hired vehicle in Shopian

Srinagar, June 2: Three soldiers got injured after an explosion inside a private hired vehicle in Sedow area. It is located near south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday, police said.

“A blast took place inside a private hired vehicle at Sedow, #Shopian. 03 soldiers injured & shifted to Hospital. Nature & source (blast due to grenade or already planted IED inside vehicle or malfunctioning of battery). The blast is being investigated & will be shared, IGP Kashmir said in a statement.

The nature and the source of the blast is still unknown. Whether it was due to a grenade or already planted IED (Improvised Explosive Device). Or is it due to malfunctioning of the battery , he said.

The injured soldiers have been admitted to a hospital. The vehicle was severely damaged in the blast too. Sources have said that due to the severity of the blast, it is unlikely that it was caused by a battery explosion. Though a thorough investigation is being carried out.

There has been a rise in targeted attacks, especially against Kashmiri Pandits, by terrorists across Jammu and Kashmir.

In the most recent targeted attack, a civilian was shot at by terrorists at Keegam in Kashmir’s Shopian.The police said civilian Farooq Ahmad Sheikh was fired upon. He was injured and is being treated at a hospital.

Earlier this week, a school teacher – Rajni Bala – died of gunshot injuries. She was attacked by terrorists in the Samba district.

Earlier in May, a TV artist, Amreen Bhat, was shot dead in the union territory.

Another civilian killing that triggered great anguish in May was that of Kashmir Pandit. Pandit Rahul Bhat prompting concerns among the Kashmiri Pandit community for safety.
